Questions and Answers

It is natural for us to desire to reach…but only because of the desire to grasp. it is therefore a felt need to grasp once we reach, even if what we grasp is not worth holding. Hands full of anything are better to us than empty hands.

As a result we are driven to have answers (grasp), especially about God. We don’t like to have questions (reach). We only ask questions to have answers. And it is ever more maddening when our questions only lead us to harder questions.

It appears that God has built life so that true grasp is less attainable but reach is critical.

And there is another reason to reach for God that is better than grasp…

  1. A place that will allow me to catch up to all of the changes. Being Still for a while.

  2. Maybe Reaching is our journey to God, our relationship with God, our obedience to God, and grasping is Gods response to our reaching. He makes up the distance when our reaching comes up short. In reaching self is seen. In grasping God is seen. I don’t think true grasping can be done apart from God. Just a thought

  3. Well Brad, I am glad to see that you have picked it up, the admonishment worked, I commend you.

“A man’s reach should exceed his grasp or what’ a heaven for?” – I just can’t remember who said it.

    Marsha- well said!

  4. I spent last week doing a lot of spiritual reaching.
The company I work for had 3 employees die, one of the dispatcher’s 2 year old daughter fell out a window 2 stories to the groud and was seriously hurt.
Because of the economy, 2 employees were let go.

My heart was heavy with these losses. During our Wednesday bible study here at work, we all expressed how we felt. God did shine his grace upon the 2 year old and she had a metal plate inserted into the side of her face which will dissolve over time and they see no long term problems for her – that was a blessing.
I know God put me here, at this trucking company, for a reason. And as always I am ready and willing to share God with all the truck drivers I deal with. When I first began working here I tried to not get involved with their personal problems, but God just would not let that happen.

I strongly urge you to listen when God speaks, do not second guess him and by all means act upon his request for you. You will be rewarded some day, but don’t expect any immedate response just the joy you get from obeying God.
